WHEN TO GO

Kenya is an excellent year-round destination. However, during the two rainy seasons (November and April to May), it can get a bit wet, especially in the Mara. Therefore the best times to visit are January to March and late June through to October – this is when it is dry, and animals tend to congregate around permanent water sources. During the wet season (late March through to May and late October to early December), the animals disperse across larger areas and are harder to find. If you want a chance to catch the annual wildebeest migration when it thunders past Sala’s Camp in the Masai Mara, then go between July and September, although the exact location of the migration within this period varies each year, as the animals’ movements are dictated by the rains

day 1

Arrival & Into the Heart of the Wild

A warm welcome in Nairobi sets the tone for an effortless journey. A private transfer in a luxury vehicle whisks you to Wilson Airport, where your awaiting aircraft stands ready. At 10 AM, you take to the skies, soaring over the Great Rift Valley—a breathtaking expanse of escarpments, lakes, and rolling plains—before descending into the vast wilderness of the Maasai Mara. At the Mara North Airstrip, your guide awaits. A short drive leads you to Elewana Elephant Pepper Camp, an intimate retreat steeped in classic safari charm. Here, an elegant, chef-curated lunch is served beneath the shade of towering fig trees, setting the stage for the days ahead.

As the afternoon heat softens, step into a world unchanged by time. The Maasai Mara is a realm of raw beauty—golden savannah stretching to the horizon, where lions bask in the warmth, cheetahs prowl in the tall grass, and great elephant herds move with quiet majesty. This first drive is not simply a game viewing; it is an immersion into one of Earth’s last great wildernesses, where each moment is a brushstroke on nature’s grand canvas.

As dusk settles, return to camp, where lantern-lit pathways lead to an exquisite dinner under the open sky. Aged wines, refined flavors, and quiet conversation blend seamlessly with the distant
roar of a lion. A final nightcap by the fire, then to your suite, where sleep comes under a blanket of stars, serenaded by the whispers of the African night.

Day 2-4

Lost in the Wild, Found in the Moment

Mornings begin with the first light of dawn, when the Mara stirs to life. The air is crisp, the golden plains bathed in soft hues. Out on an early game drive, the drama of the wild unfolds—lions stalking in the tall grass, cheetahs launching into full pursuit, herds of antelope fleeing for survival. Along the Mara River, the Great Migration takes center stage, thousands of wildebeest braving the currents as crocodiles lie in wait. This is nature at its most raw, unscripted and breathtaking.

By mid-morning, a lavish bush breakfast awaits, set in a secluded clearing where fresh coffee and gourmet delights are savored with uninterrupted views of the wilderness. The rhythm of the day slows at camp—afternoons drift by in indulgent leisure, whether with a rejuvenating spa massage, a fine selection of wines and spirits, or simply reclining on your veranda, the soundtrack of nature all around.

For a truly extraordinary perspective, opt for a hot air balloon safari, drifting silently over the endless savannah as the sun rises, followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush as an extra. Or, step into the rich traditions of the Maasai people, a timeless culture deeply connected to this land. Visit a Maasai Manyatta for an intimate glimpse into their way of life, from ancient rituals to the rhythmic chants of traditional dance, also as an extra.

Evenings bring the magic of the Mara in its most enchanting light. Sundowners are poured as the sky ignites in fiery hues, the vast landscape stretching endlessly before you. As darkness falls, the crackle of the bonfire beckons—stories shared under a canopy of stars, laughter mingling with the distant calls of the wild. With no ties to the outside world, time seems to stand still, a rare and profound immersion into the heart of Kenya.

Day 5

From the Mara to the Shadows of Kilimanjaro

The morning begins with a full breakfast, a final taste of the Mara’s serenity before your journey continues. A short transfer takes you to Mara North Airstrip, where your awaiting flight departs at 11 AM. For one hour, the landscape transforms beneath you—rolling savannah gives way to the striking, open plains of Amboseli, framed by the towering presence of Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, a warm welcome awaits, followed by a seamless transfer to Elewana Tortilis Camp, an elegant retreat nestled in a private conservancy bordering Amboseli National Park. A refined lunch is served in the open-air dining area, with panoramic views of the distant herds grazing in the shadow of Africa’s highest peak.

After a moment of rest, step into Amboseli’s legendary landscapes—a realm where vast elephant herds roam freely, their silhouettes striking against the golden dust kicked up by their slow, deliberate movements. This is one of the best places in Africa to witness these magnificent creatures up close, their tusks gleaming in the soft afternoon light. Beyond the elephants, Amboseli is alive with graceful giraffes feeding on acacia tops, zebra herds marching in synchronized patterns, and wildebeest scattered across the plains. Lions rest beneath the sparse shade, cheetahs scan the horizon for prey, and spotted hyenas move stealthily in the distance. The park’s swampy marshes attract hippos, buffalo, and an astonishing variety of birdlife, from vibrant kingfishers to majestic fish eagles.

As the sun sets, return to camp for an exquisite dinner under the stars, where the distant rumble of elephants and the whisper of the night breeze create an atmosphere of pure enchantment. A nightcap in the lounge or by the fire, then retreat to your suite for a peaceful rest, embraced by the quiet rhythm of the African wilderness.

day 6

A Full Day in the Wild

Wake to the soft glow of dawn and the distant calls of the wild. After a leisurely breakfast, set out for a full-day immersion into the untamed beauty of Amboseli—a land of vast horizons, shimmering mirages, and towering elephant herds.

Begin in the private conservancy, where predators move undisturbed—lions lounging in the golden grass, cheetahs poised for the chase, and leopards slipping silently through the acacia woodlands. Away from the crowds, this exclusive stretch of wilderness offers rare, intimate encounters with wildlife.

Venture deeper into Amboseli National Park, where the sheer density of animals is breathtaking. Elephants wade through lush swamps, their tusks gleaming in the sun, while wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles graze the open plains under the watchful eyes of lurking predators. Hippos laze in the shallows, buffalo stand motionless in the heat, and vibrant birdlife fills the sky—from regal fish eagles to flashes of iridescent kingfishers.

As the golden hour approaches, return to camp in time for sundowners with a view of Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peak glowing in the evening light. A final gourmet dinner under the stars, a toast to the adventures of the day, and one last night wrapped in the magic of Africa’s

day 7

A Grand Farewell to the Wild

Your final morning begins with an early game drive, a last chance to witness Amboseli’s wildlife stirring with the dawn—lions returning from their night’s hunt, elephants moving gracefully through the mist, and giraffes silhouetted against the rising sun. After breakfast, a smooth transfer takes you to Amboseli Airstrip for your scenic flight back to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport, the vast African plains slowly fading beneath you.

Before departure, enjoy a visit to the Giraffe Center, where you’ll meet the elegant and endangered Rothschild’s giraffes and learn about vital conservation efforts. Then, indulge in a final feast at The Carnivore Restaurant, a celebrated dining experience where the finest cuts are roasted over an open flame, a fitting tribute to your unforgettable safari.

With hearts full and memories etched forever, we bid you farewell, knowing that Africa’s wild beauty will always call you back. Until we meet again—kwaheri na safari njema.
