WHEN TO GO
Kenya offers exceptional wildlife viewing throughout the year, but the optimal times to visit are during the dry seasons: January to March and late June to October. During these periods, minimal rainfall leads animals to gather around permanent water sources, enhancing gameviewing opportunities. Conversely, the wet seasons—late March to May and late October to early December—see increased rainfall, prompting wildlife to disperse over larger areas, which can make sightings more challenging. For those aiming to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration in the Masai Mara, planning a trip between July and October is advisable, as the herds typically arrive during this window, though their exact timing varies annually based on rainfall patterns.

day 1
STAY: Enashipai Resort
DESTINATION: Lake Naivasha
EXPERIENCE
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast, savoring the morning tranquility before setting off on a drive towards Lake Naivasha. Arrive in time for a bike riding at the Hell’s Gate National Park and if you are a hiking enthusiast, this is the best spot for this. Later, head to the resort for hot delicious lunch and short relaxation.
During later afternoon, head out on a peaceful boat trip across the shimmering waters of Lake Naivasha, a freshwater oasis teeming with hippos and an incredible variety of birdlife. Glide past flocks of pelicans and fish eagles diving for their catch before arriving at Crescent Island, a hidden gem where you’ll step onto land for a guided walking safari. With no predators around, this is one of the few places in Kenya where you can walk among wildlife—graceful giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and impalas—all against the backdrop of the vast, open lake. As the sun begins to set, return to your lodge, carrying the magic of the day with you. You can opt for an evening spa treatment and massage.

In the afternoon, set off for another thrilling game drive, exploring different areas of the reserve.
Between July and October, a visit to the Mara River offers the chance to witness the dramatic wildebeest crossing—one of nature’s greatest spectacles. As the day winds down, return to your lodge for a delicious dinner and a peaceful night’s rest. On the morning of day 2 you will experience a Hot Air Balloon Safari experience, giving you a panoramic view of the savannah waking up, big cats hunting, and chance to view quite a large number of animals within a short span of time. On hot afternoons, you can opt to spend time at the pool swimming, reading and busking in the sun. Not every day is for game drives, it is time to unwind and reflect. Take your time and heal!

Here, you’ll encounter unique species not found in other parks, like the Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, and the reticulated giraffe. The Samburu people’s vibrant culture adds an extra layer of richness to the experience, providing a deeper connection to the
land. As you venture out on early morning and afternoon game drives, the reserve comes alive with wildlife – herds of elephants, graceful leopards, and the majestic African wild dog. End the day with a relaxing evening, dinner, and an overnight stay at your hotel.

day 13
STAY: Sarova Stanley Hotel
DESTINATION: Nairobi National Park and David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
EXPERIENCE
Start your day with breakfast before setting off for a game drive in the only park in the city, Nairobi National Park and the elephant orphanage, David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (11am to 12 noon). Nairobi National Park offers a unique experience, being one of the few wildlife reserves located right next to a bustling city. Just a short drive from Nairobi’s skyscrapers, this park is home to a surprising array of wildlife, including lions, giraffes, zebras, and even rhinos, all thriving against the backdrop of the city skyline. A visit here provides a rare chance to see wild animals up close while being surrounded by the urban hustle. Nearby, the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is a sanctuary dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of orphaned elephants. It’s a heartwarming visit, where you can watch the baby elephants play and feed, learning about the organization’s tireless work to protect these majestic creatures. The trust’s efforts to protect elephants from poaching and habitat loss make it an essential part of Kenya’s conservation efforts, and a visit here offers not just an opportunity to witness conservation in action, but also to contribute to the future of these endangered animals. Spend the rest of the afternoon after lunch relaxing at your hotel.
